It is a contagious cough among dogs which, like the human flu, cannot always be covered by a vaccine.
Please take this into consideration when planning on boarding your pet and consult your local veterinarian for more information and precautionary measures.

What is Tracheal Mycoplasma?
Mycoplasma infection is respiratory illness caused by Mycoplasma pneumonia, a microscopic organism related to bacteria

It is a contagious cough among dogs which, like the human flu, cannot always be covered by a vaccine.
There is currently no vaccine available to prevent Mycoplasma infection.
Treatment of Mycoplasma in Dogs

Depending on the severity of clinical signs, treatment options may include outpatient care.

Supportive care, to include fluid and electrolyte therapy may be indicated.

Antibiotic therapy is indicated.
Home Care and Prevention

Administer all medication and return for follow-up as directed by your veterinarian. Prognosis is generally good in otherwise healthy animals.

Sugar-free Robitussin which can be purchased over the counter at any drug store will help soothe your pups sore throat

Mix honey and lemon juice in warm water and administer twice a day.

The organism is readily killed by drying, sunshine and chemical disinfection.
